As you probably know I am a dog person. Since I’ve been with my better half we’ve had three different dogs. Each one unique from the others.

Our first was Buttons the Wonder Dog. He was her dog but I kind of won him over. We did everything together and had a special bond.
Our second dog was Annabelle the Wal-mart dog. She had been abandoned behind a Wal-mart in South Carolina and had been there about a week before someone realized she was abandoned. She was my wife’s dog. Unfortunately she was part Akita and as she grew older she started using me as a chew toy.
Now we have Jack. I haven’t given him a title yet. He is definitely my dog. We go everywhere together, work, hiking and if I could find a place that lets dogs in we would go drinking together. Of course, that would mean I would have to start drinking again.
There is one thing I can’t understand though. When I take him for walks around our neighborhood people will always move away from him. He isn’t a big dog, he isn’t a mean dog, he doesn’t even bark. But for some reason all the other dog owners will pull their charges to the side to let us pass. At times they will even turn around and go the other way.
When we first moved here we had Annabelle and she was a big dog, although she was a sweetheart. But she was big and she could be scary looking. I could understand other people’s reluctance to come near us.
But Jack? Look at him, he’s adorable and certainly not scary looking. Yet people still move out of the way. I just don’t get it. If it were people who didn’t have a dog I could understand but they all have dogs.
Wait- I just thought of something, could it be me they’re trying to get away from?
